Cell pathology-histopathology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Cell pathology-histopathology - Essay Example After assortment of tissue tests, arrangement of the gathered example for histological assessment initiates (Anthony, 1998). Leica TP 1020, a mechanized tissue processor, encourages obsession, lack of hydration and invasion of the tissue test (Hoppert, 2003). Tissue handling has four particular advances specifically: obsession, lack of hydration, clearing, implanting, and impregnation (Hoppert, 2003). Obsession targets saving the tissue by restraining autolysis and disintegration. A perfect fixative, formalin, accomplishes this by solidifying the tissue test with insignificant shrinkage, and takes into consideration resulting recoloring of the example (An, and Martin 2003, p.15). Parchedness of the fixed tissue is conceivable through the presentation of the example in liquor of shifting focuses. The reason for this progression is to expel water from the tissue test, and prepared the example for installing. Xylene, a clearing, operator dispose of the liquor from the example in a procedure called clearing. . T he liquor free tissue test goes through cylinders containing liquid paraffin wax. The wax replaces the clearing liquid in the tissue accomplishing invasion. This stage denotes the finish of tissue preparing. The handling of tissue happens through trim and pouring of wax as a spread. This form was to cool and harden. This methodology inserts the tissue in strong media bearing it support. Setting the strip in warm water shower encourages their smoothing. By utilization of forceps, a meager cut of the example lifted and mounted on a perfect glass slide. At long last, flooding the glass slide with eosin color accomplishes recoloring (An, and Martin 2003, p.17). Tissue handling helps a pathologist to analyze a sickness. Histology specialists, who go about as aides to the pathologists, apply tissue-handling strategies to get ready gathered

Marriage very touching!
Marriage â" very touching! When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, Iâve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.Suddenly I didnât know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didnât seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didnât talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didnât love her anymore. I just pitied her! With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didnât have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again. In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didnât want anything from me, but needed a monthâs notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month âs time and she didnât want to disrupt him with our broken marriage. This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day.She requested that every day for the monthâs duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door every morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.I told Jane about my wifeâs divorce conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully. My wife and I hadnât had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; donât tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office. On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadnât looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didnât tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger. She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quit e a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily.Suddenly it hit me⦠she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head. Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, itâs time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school . I held her tightly and said, I hadnât noticed that our life lacked intimacy.I drove to office⦠jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind⦠I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore. She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I wonât divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didnât value the details of our lives, not because we didnât love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart.Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, Iâll carry you out every morning until death do us apart. That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed â" dead.My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push thru with the divorce â"At least, in the eyes of our sonâ" Iâm a loving husbandâ¦The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouseâs friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!Author Unknown

Conjugate Definition in Chemistry
In chemistry, there are three possible definitions of the term conjugate. Three Types of Conjugates (1) A conjugate refers to a compound formed by the joining of two or more chemical compounds. (2) In the Bronsted-Lowry theory of acids and bases, the term conjugate refers to an acid and base that differ from each other by a proton. When an acid and base react, the acid forms its conjugate base while the base forms it conjugate acid: acid base ââ¡â conjugate base conjugate acid For an acid HA, the equation is written: HA B ââ¡â A- HB The reaction arrow points both left and right because the reaction at equilibrium occurs in both the forward direction to form products and the reverse direction to convert products back into reactants. The acid loses a proton to become its conjugate base A- as the base B accepts a proton to become its conjugate acid HB. (3) Conjugation is the overlap of p-orbitals across a ÃÆ' bond (sigma bond). In transition metals, d-orbitals may overlap. The orbitals have delocalized electrons when there are alternating single and multiple bonds in a molecule. Bonds alternate in a chain so long as each atom has an available p-orbital. Conjugation tends to lower the energy of the molecule and increase its stability.à Conjugation is common in conducting polymers, carbon nanotubules, graphene, and graphite. Its seen in many organic molecules. Among other applications, conjugated systems can form chromophores. Chromophores are molecules that can absorb certain wavelengths of light, leading them to be colored. Chromophores are found in dyes, the photoreceptors of the eye, and glow in the dark pigments.

The Killer Angels Free Essays
ââ¬Å"The Killer Angelsâ⬠written by Michael Shaara in 1974, published by Ballantine Books, is a story showing the courage and heroism of people involved in the Battle of Gettysburg that took place in 1863. The novel presents the battle in an objective manner, and does not take sides when displaying the position of the two armies on the subject of slavery. It is an outstanding book and is worth reading due to the presence of real characters. We will write a custom essay sample on The Killer Angels or any similar topic only for you Order Now In other words, the characters have been brought to life and the audience not only gets to learn about the battle itself, but also about the views and opinions of the participants. One of the most interesting methods is how Shaara presents the narrative through the viewpoints of army personnel, which makes the events come to life. The results are well rounded characters, detailed imagery, and an objectivity that didnââ¬â¢t label either side as the hero. Michael Shaara first developed a passion for writing when he was in grade school. After graduation, Shaara joined the armed forces where he served as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division, a seaman, and police officer. In 1951, he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelorââ¬â¢s degree and continued his educational process by engaging in some graduate work at Columbia University and the University of Vermont. After publishing many science fiction novels Shaara begin to take on larger project such as writing war novels. In The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, vivid imagery, details, and insightful character development reveal the differences between the Union army and the Confederacy. These two armies have different causes for fighting, but the main cause for the war is slavery. This key issue sparked the war. The Confederacy is fighting for independence from the North, yet the Union is fighting for freedom and an end to slavery. The thesis of this novel in my opinion reads as, although we are soldiers that are highly trained and motivated war still is a constant struggle in our everyday lives and the lives of our families. War is never easy and we engage in this job for the loyalty, courage, selfless service, duty, honor, integrity and personal courage to stand and protect this place we call home. The main point isnââ¬â¢t primarily focused on displaying the soldiersââ¬â¢ reasons for fighting the war, but Shaara wants to focus on the soldiers as individuals and how they cope with the stress of being in a war zone. At times, history books show the impact from such an objective point of view that the experience itself isnââ¬â¢t made easily understood by students or readers. Shaara gives life to the events and allows the audience to emotionally engage with individualsà involved in it by the arrangement of his powerful words. Providing us with a more personalized understanding of a war from which we are otherwise removed. The main values that Shaara personally incorporated was Selfless Service he took it upon himself to write at book specifically detailed to highlight a soldierââ¬â¢s point of view. Honor is another value outlined by Shaara the way that he states how the officers talk to the soldiers and explain how they can make a difference not only in the community that they live but in the world shows that both parties exhibit honor to be viewed as soldier whether union or confederate. Personally, I agree with the thesis outlined by this author because you never read in the history books or gain an understanding of the aspects of the soldier, the strain that they undergo or the risks that they take that can impact their lives. They do all of this not by placing self first, but the welfare of you the people. I understand because being a soldier is not easy you not only impact your self but the love ones around you, it really does take one dedicated individual to engage in this job as a soldier. Suspense in The Most Dangerous Game Essay Example For Students

Author, Richard Connoll, creates suspense by conveying unsettling emotions that the audience can relate to and that give a false sense of predictability. The title of this story, a major factor of suspense, tells the audience exactly what will happen. The interior suspense gives hidden meaning to the title and adds many twists to its foreboding plot. The element of suspense, leaving audiences guessing about future events, allows the audience to get emotionally involved in the story line. In essence, Richard Connoll does not disappoint readers by deviating from the thematic conflict, but instead keeps the audience on their toes by creating a veil of the suspenseful unknown throughout the story. Indeed, Connoll successfully creates this veil of suspense in several key scenes. One such scene occurs when Zaroff tracks Rainsford, by following his immensely difficult trail, to Rainsfords canopy bed. When Zaroff arrives he looks up into the canopy of the trees. He then lights a cigarette and blows a smoke ring into the air as if deliberately and stalks away saving him for another days sport (210, 211). When Connoll does not specifically say if Zaroff saw Rainsford or not it leaves the audience to speculate about Zaroffs intentions. A second key scene happens when Rainsford digs a pit in the marsh. When the pit kills Zaroffs dog Zaroff seems amused and says that he will see what you (meaning Rainsford) can do against my whole pack. I am going home for a rest now(212). Zaroffs satisfaction releases both Rainsford from the hunt (yet again) and the audience from the momentary suspense while keeping them entangled in the overall plot. The plot continues deepening as Rainsford faces more danger when Ivan and Zaroff hunt him with an entire pack of dogs. Again, Rainsford escapes by using his wits and constructing a trap that kills Ivan. As each successive event becomes more and more dangerous it leaves the audience feeling as if nothing could top the previous scene. Connoll does top all of his previous scenes by concluding with the ultimate ending; he allows the readers to make their own ending. This keeps the story forever alive by never actually ending the story, the perfect permanent suspense. Throughout the story, Connells masterful use of suspense keeps the audience guessing until far beyond the end. Such creative writing stirs the desire for more, keeping the audience hooked until the exhilarating finish. Connells The Most Dangerous Game conveys a prime example of suspense. It also begs the question, what is civilization? Rainsford enjoys hunting so his peers consider him primitive and Zaroff is seen as civilized. This only shows that civilization is a perception made from details that are fed to us by the person being judged. A persons true character is on the inside, as shown in this story, but can a person change? Did Rainsfords experience change him from the mere perception of primitive to actual primitivism? .

Cross of Gold Essays
Cross of Gold Essays Cross of Gold Essay Cross of Gold Essay In 1896. three old ages after the Panic of 1893 . a adult male by the name of William Jennings Bryan delivered one of the most historical addresss to this twenty-four hours. In the late 1800ââ¬â¢s a populist motion was go oning and people were get downing to take notice. Political corruptness and large concern patterns hurt non merely labourers. but besides husbandmans. When husbandmans organized into confederations. and finally into the Populist Party. they posed a challenge to the reigning bipartisan system. During the 1896 elections the Populist Party had begun to turn and derive impulse. they had put a senator in office and taken over the Kansas province Legislature. The election of 1896 was known as the battle of the standards because it focused chiefly on the gold versus Ag criterions of money. Peoples wanted speedy solutions to the economic crisis and the support of free Ag mintage began to lift in 1894. During the Democratic Convention William Jennings Bryan delivered the Cross of Gold address. This address is considered one to the most good known political addresss. This address when reviewed with the historical context and Bryanââ¬â¢s political point of position creates a great description of what our state was traveling through in the early to mid 1890ââ¬â¢s and the importance and significance of the 1986 presidential election. In 1894. 20 Democratic province platforms called for a free mintage of silver despite President Clevelandââ¬â¢s resistance. Power from the party shifted to the South and its mentality reflected the positions of Southerners and Democrats became a sectional party. no longer a national party. As a consequence this left the Democrats without a leader and this is where Bryan got involved. The republicans had defeated their Ag platform and wanted the gilded criterion. Bryan wanted to take the Ag Democrats and felt that he could. He delivered the Cross of Gold address and won the presidential nomination the following twenty-four hours. This address is supposed to derive the blessing from the Democratic Party and to acquire Bryan into the Presidential election. He was successful at both of these. William jennings bryans chief statement in his address is that the gilded criterion will non assist the state as it struggles with unemployment and high involvement rates and everything else the Panic of 1893 created. The state needed to acquire out of this rut and needed to make it now. He believed that Ag mintage was the manner to carry through this. When Bryan says Having behind us the bring forthing multitudes of this state and the universe. supported by the commercial involvements. the laboring involvements. and the toilers everyplace. we will reply their demand for a gilded criterion by stating to them: You shall non press down upon the forehead of labour this Crown of irritants. you shall non crucify world upon a cross of gold. . he makes the point that by accepting the gilded criterion they would be killing the state. And that the gilded criterion would non convey the state out of the depression they were in. It would do the state fail. Another traveling quotation mark in this address is You come to us and state us that the great metropoliss are in favour of the gilded criterion ; we reply that the great metropoliss rest upon our wide and fertile prairies. Burn down your metropoliss and go forth our farms. and your metropoliss will jump up once more as if by thaumaturgy ; but destruct our farms and the grass will turn in the streets of every metropolis in the state. This shows that yes the great metropoliss are in favour of the gilded criterion but they donââ¬â¢t understand what the remainder of the state is traveling through. They are dependent on the farms and agribusiness of the U. S. and if the metropoliss fail they can reconstruct them and repair them. but if the farms fail there is nil that can repair this. The husbandmans are in desperate demands of aid and the gilded criterion is non th e solution. free Ag is. In this address he besides says Ah. my friends. we say non one word against those who live upon the Atlantic seashore. but the stalwart innovators who have braved all the dangers of the wilderness. who have made the desert to bloom as the rose-the innovators off out at that place [ indicating to the West ] . who rear their kids near to Natureââ¬â¢s bosom. where they can mix their voices with the voices of the birds-out there where they have erected schoolhouses for the instruction of their immature. churches where they praise their Godhead. and graveyards where rest the ashes of their dead-these people. we say. are as deserving of the consideration of our party as any people in this state. It is for these that we speak. We do non come as attackers. Our war is non a war of conquering ; we are contending in the defence of our places. our households. and descendants. We have petitioned. and our requests have been scorned ; we have entreated. and our prayers have been disregarded ; we have begged. and they have mocked when our catastrophe came. We beg no longer ; we entreat no more ; we petition no more. We defy them. . . . This quotation mark has great significance in the manner that he talks about how he is non stating anything bad about the people populating on the east seashore. who still look to England for thoughts and beliefs ( such as the gilded criterion ) . He talks about the innovators and all they have accomplished. and why they deserve to hold a say in the political universe merely every bit much as the remainder of the state. He is seeking to voice all their ideas and positions in this address. Bryan battles for the people who are fighting to populate and back up their households and places. He says that they must no longer implore or petition but instead withstand what they ( Republicans ) are seeking to make. Bryan subsequently lost the presidential election to William McKinley. but the address that he gave had greater significance than merely acquiring the Democratic nomination for presidential term. This created a quandary for the democrats because they did non believe any party would back free Ag. so now they were faced with a tough pick. put up their ain campaigner or side with Bryan. Bryan basically split up the Populist Party because half of them thought they should side with the Democrats ( Bryan ) . but the other half were purists and wanted to make it all by themselves. he did non win the election but he stopped the 3rd party and changed the manner the Democratic Party thinks. Without inquiry. William Jennings Bryanââ¬â¢s Cross of Gold address was one of the most of import and impactful address in all of political relations. It changed the ideals of the Democratic Party and maintained the traditional bipartisan system. Without the Acts of the Apostless of Bryan would this state even be afloat still? This address is genuinely one of the greatest addresss I have of all time heard/read is really meaningful as our state is in another large recession and makes you look in the past and see how we have persevered and conquered jobs in the past and provides hope we will get the better of this recession.

Why Copper Bowls Are Better for Whipping Egg Whites
Why Copper Bowls Are Better for Whipping Egg Whites The bowl you use makes a difference when you are whipping egg whites. Copper bowls produce a yellowish, creamy foam that is harder to overbeat that the foam produced using glass or stainless steel bowls. When you whisk egg whites in a copper bowl, some copper ions migrate from the bowl into the egg whites. The copper ions form a yellow complex with one of the proteins in eggs, conalbumin. The conalbumin-copper complex is more stable than the conalbumin alone, so egg whites whipped in a copper bowl are less likely to denature (unfold). How Does Whisking Change the Eggs? When air is whisked into egg whites, the mechanical action denatures the proteins in the whites. The denatured proteins coagulate, stiffening the foam and stabilizing the air bubbles. If the foam is overbeaten in a non-copper bowl, eventually the proteins become completely denatured and coagulate into clumps. There is no going back from the clumpy mess to nice foamy whites, so overbeaten whites are usually discarded. If a copper bowl is used, then fewer protein molecules are free to denature and coagulate, because some are tied up in conalbumin-copper complexes. In addition to forming complexes with conalbumin, the copper may also react with sulfur-containing groups on other proteins, further stabilizing the egg proteins. Although the iron and zinc found in other metal bowls also form complexes with conalbumin, these complexes dont make the foam more stable. When glass or steel bowls are used, cream of tartar may be added to egg whites to stabilize the whites.

Free writing journal - Essay Example All the rest were cracked showing that women, though pretending to be tough are still vulnerable under extreme cold temperature. The story makes me feel the disappointment of the author with the society. Because sheââ¬â¢s a woman, she understands how other women may have felt trapped within a marriage that does not allow them to grow and be themselves. I felt anger and frustration at how the men in the story treated womenââ¬â¢s things and activities as trifles, useless, senseless things. I also felt the hidden anger, which was shown with the discovery of Mrs. Wrightââ¬â¢s motive to kill her husband. I felt the undervalued strength of women as they band together, like sisters protecting their own, when the two wives took the evidence proving that Mrs. Wright has enough motive to kill her husband. This short story makes the reader realize that women are really in touch with their own nature and they are often misunderstood by men. It is full of symbolism showing how women are unappreciated and underestimated. But more than that I felt the calling within the story, the call for women to take arms and band themselves together in order to fight the injustice against women, to create a place for women in the world, not merely as slaves in marriage but as a partner towards creating a successful family and

Marjane Satrapis Persepolis Essay -- Marjane Satrapis Persepolis
In the 1970's a great power struggle began in Iran, leading to a profusion of civil unrest and mass emigration. In 1941 Iranian monarch Reza Shah, was removed from power by the United States and replaced by his son, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, who Westernized the highly conservative and religious nation. He continued implementing the Westernized laws set by his father, which were known to "discouraged democratic political expression in the public sphere" and condemned Islamic fundamentalism (Khosrokhavar 3). The largely conservative citizens of Iran protested the alterations in multiple movements in response to the westernization, financial failures, and perceived belief that the Shah was being controlled by Western powers for control over Iran's vast oil supply. January of 1979, the Shah went into exile in Egypt and the devoted Muslim leader Ayatollah Khomeini assumed power, reinstalling the strict, Islamic law; "The Constitution allows all laws to be revised [...] by an Assembly of Expert, which is dominated by conservative clergymen" (Khatami 122) . In 1980, Iraqi troops invaded Iran in hopes of capturing the oil- rich country amidst the Revolutionary turmoil, further contributing to Iranian emigration to European countries. The Iran Iraq War continued until 1988. The mass exodus resulted in the "forced dispersal, immigration, displacement and establishment of reconfigured transnational communities", now known as the Iranian diaspora (Agnew 19).Such abrupt uprooting of a citizen's identity and physical connection to their homeland leads to a conflicting sense of identity and belonging in individuals who are involved in the sudden transition. Macbeth Essay
ââ¬Å"As the weird women promised: and I fear, Thou playââ¬â¢dst most foully forââ¬â¢t; yet it was said. It should not stand in thy posterity,/but that myself should be the root and father/Of many Kings.â⬠-Banquo, Act 3, Scene 1 These lines are very important to the story of Macbeth, because it shows that Banquo is finally figuring out that Macbeth may have done something terrible to become king. The witches claimed Macbeth would first be Thane of Cawdor, then Thane of Glamis and finally King. He realizes that as soon as the ââ¬Å"weird womenâ⬠told Macbeth he would be King, Macbeth may have taken it too far and cheated the prophecies. ââ¬Å"With bare-facââ¬â¢d power sweep him from my sight/And bid my will avouch it, yet I must not,/For certain friends that are both his and mine,/Whose loves I may not drop, but wail his fall/Whom I myself struck downâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ -Macbeth speaking to the Murderers, Act 3, Scene 1 This quote is significant because it shows how Macbeth can have a very dark and malicious disposition. He realizes that Banquo has caught on that he killed the King to fulfill the Witchesââ¬â¢ prophecies. He thinks that if he doesnââ¬â¢t get Banquo killed, he will be the one getting killed. Macbeth also knows that if he kills Banquo himself, he will lose his position as King and all of the people who support him. ââ¬Å"Avuant! And quit my sight! Let the earth/hide thee! Thy bones are marrowless, thy blood is cold;/Thou has no speculation in those eyes/Which thou glare with.â⬠-Macbeth to Ghost of Banquo, Act 3, Scene 4 This is the part of the play when you can really tell that Macbeth is starting to go insane. He yells at the ghost of Banquo in front of all of his dinner guests, who donââ¬â¢t see Banquo. ââ¬Å"And quit my sight!â⬠shows that Macbeth is frightened by the sudden sight of his deceased companion. The cause of his hallucination could be because of a heavy weight of regret on his conscience. ââ¬Å"And that well might advise him to a caution to hold what distance his wisdom can provide. Some holy angel,/Fly to the court of Englandâ⬠¦ Under a hand accursââ¬â¢d!â⬠-Lennox, Act 3, Scene 6

Family And The Language Institute - 875 Words
Family Betty and I are from the same town, same city. We met at the language institute, she was 16 and I was 18, but we didnââ¬â¢t know each other before that. Even though our families were living about a mile apart; we didnââ¬â¢t know each other. Our families knew each other, but not us. Betty went to a girlsââ¬â¢ school, I went to a boysââ¬â¢ school, so we didnââ¬â¢t meet until we went to the institute. We were good friends for a year, we had different friends in the school. Then things kind of got in such a way that we started going out and became serious. That year we played matchmakers for other friends! Betty had a friend that was crazy about me and I had a friend that was interested in one of her cousins. So we did the matchmaking. We dated for seven years before we were able to get married. We couldnââ¬â¢t get married over in Argentina because she was going to school and I was going to school, so we were not going to live with our parents. That was not an option. O n December 30th it will be 44 years since we got married, almost 51 since we met. We met in 1964, in 1955 we started dating and got married in 1971. It was the English that got us together. Just Vs. Unjust Essay - 1386 Words
Just vs. Unjust. We, as U.S. citizens, are guaranteed basic equal rights, but do these rights extend to all U.S. citizens? Honestly, they do not. Homosexuals have had their rights have been minimized or depleted since U.S. citizens can remember. It should not matter what ethnicity, sexuality, or religion you have; you deserve equal rights if you are a citizen of the U.S. because you pay the same taxes as everyone else in this country and are guaranteed the same rights under The Bill of Rights. Homosexuals can be charged with the same crime as a heterosexual, and they have the right to a speedy fair trial. However, homosexuals have been suffering injustices for far too long ranging from being banned from joining the military to getting married, and they are not allowed to search for their pursuit of happiness because other U.S. citizens continue to shut this right down. This is unjust because everyone is guaranteed their right to the pursuit of happiness under their basic Human Rights unless you are homosexual, and that is flat out discrimination. It has been said that we discriminate because we are scared, and people do believe that holds some value. Why else would we hate for no reason? How do we define discrimination against homosexuals as just? Discrimination is fueled by hate and ignorance. Uses of Voice Over Internet Protocol - 1141 Words
VOIP: Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) can be defined as a series of technologies and technique that is used for release of voice communications and multimedia through Internet Protocol networks. In some cases, this technique is referred to as a means of converting analog audio signals into digital data that can be delivered through an Internet Protocol. The use of the technique is attributed to its ability to transform standard Internet connection into a platform for free phone calls. Christian Influences on the Modern World Free Essays
Despite its numerous branches, Christianity as a whole is the religion practiced by majority of worldââ¬â¢s population. Ever since its beginnings in the first century AD, it grew exponentially. Massive numbers of its followers have caused it to have considerable influence on the world culture. We will write a custom essay sample on Christian Influences on the Modern World or any similar topic only for you Order Now Since the majority of its followers were from what is considered the western world, the influence of Christianity on it was greater than elsewhere. The impact of Christian philosophy in the areas of politics, economy, business, law, education, science and human relations will be discussed in this report. While the issues discussed are contemporary, the historical aspects are also presented. The educational system of countries under theocratic governance is influenced to a greater extent by it than any other institution. The reason for this is simply that the process of educating requires the presentation of ideas and theories whose validity is established by the governing authority. Where other institutions concerning business, health, etcâ⬠¦ already have an established infrastructure, the educational institution can be completely remodeled and molded into any shape that is desired. Those countries that practice extreme forms of theocracies generally concentrate in providing religious education and ignoring other subject areas [1]. Some of the subject matter may be considered extravagant resulting in its exclusion from the curriculum. At the same time, through religious influence, young minds can be channeled into maintaining the cultural aspects of the nation that themselves could have been shaped by the religion [2]. Christianity has played an influential role affecting western societies throughout history. The command of Christianity was greater in the past centuries and has gradually decreased.Today its influence is very low and constantly fading. In the 18th and 19th century, Christian education was extremely important to the education of a child. More so than any other subject matter, the moral aspect of life was given more importance. However as time passed and knowledge grew, especially in the field of science, other subject matter grew in their precedence. Nevertheless, religious education was not neglected. However, in the early 20th century, the education of the origin of life contradicted the religious education concerning that matter. This issue was taken to court and the court decided in favor of the religious side [3].Half a century later, when opponents questioned the constitutionality of prayers in public schools, the matter went to the Supreme Court and the decision this time resulted in the abolishment of prayers from schools. This was the turning point in the influence of Christianity on education. From this point on, the influence of Christianity on education has been minimal and public school education has been completely secularized. Christianityââ¬â¢s influence on business is not easy to perceive. The effect of other religions on business, such as Islamââ¬â¢s effect on the business practices in the Middle East is easily observable. Some of the many influences of Islam on business in a country practicing Islam include closing and opening shops at only certain periods of the day, having certain religious holidays, donating certain amount of the profit to the local Muslim charity and so on. Likewise, the effect of Judaism on business is easily observed when those practicing Judaism donââ¬â¢t open their places of business on Saturdays in order to keep Sabbath and not buying or selling of any ââ¬Å"non-kosherâ⬠food items. Looking at all these practices, it seems that Christianity stands out because it does not seem to have any influence on the business practices of our current world. This may seem true because those nations that had practiced Christianity in the past have for the most part separated religion from social aspects of life. Nevertheless, the current business practices of the western world have been influenced by Christianity in complex and subtle ways. One of the effects of Christianity is the very existence of the capitalist nature of the businesses in countries that had been influenced by Christianity. In the past when capitalism was under attack by communism, one of the chief aspects of anti-communism propaganda was claiming communism to be an anti-Christian ideology. This idea is not as far-fetched as it seems. The idea that hard working people should be rich and idle people should be poor originated from biblical passages which say that a man who does not work shall not eat. There are other biblical passages which advocate that hard work is blessed by God. Thus the idea of a capitalist country where every individual tries his/her best to gain wealth and is not hindered from doing so originated in many ways from the Christian culture. This idea also reveals how communism stood in the opposite position since the wages of every worker would be fixed regardless of the work put in.Apart from the above mentioned influences, similar influences are hard to pinpoint. However, they still do exist. As an example, the keeping of business places closed on Sunday is the direct result of the dedication of Sunday as a day of rest as it was established by the Catholic Church. In the current period, Christianity did attempt to make an influence in the business practices of the western world when credit cards were gaining fame and becoming part of the society. Christian influence attempted to oppose the trend because Bible passages indicated that a person should never borrow money but live by what he/she owns. Thus a hurdle was setup by this concept but it did not have much effect and credit cards became part of society. However, this indicates that Christianity is not as influential as it used to be and its power is fading. It has always been supposed and portrayed that science and Christianity stand on opposite sides. The proponents of each side for the most part believe that they will be at war with each other. And this is not an unfounded belief either because the Christian account of creation has always conflicted with the account of evolution which is accepted by the majority of scientists. The Supreme Court of the United States had upheld the scientistsââ¬â¢ right to teach the theory of evolution in public schools and the struggle by the Christians to abolish that right has faded, since the Christians have understood that no court is going to rule in their favor [4]. However, this loss of Christianity was a major one because not only did it affect other scientific areas but it als o affected aspects of culture, education, morality, etcâ⬠¦ If the very claim that God made everything could be contested and the new ideology is going to take dominance then all aspects of lifestyles will change for those who accept the new belief. And this change has already taken place and it is advancing further. The modern gay rights movement and the abortion movement though seem not to have any roots in this science VS Christianity battle, but it is only logical to perceive that the opponents of these movements are backed up by their religious belief which holds an opposing view of morality than those that the proponents of these movements hold. Regardless of the past defeats, the Christian movement has been putting up a fight against the popular claims of science in the field of biology. While the explanation for the origin of life has been attributed to the theory of evolution by its proponents, the lack of major fossil evidence as highly supposed by the early founders of this belief as well as the mostly unexplainable aspects of the complexity of life has brought into question the validity of this entire belief system. While the proponents of the theory of evolution have no answers to these new confounding problems, the lack of any supporting evidence to the original Christian belief has hindered its success into its own reestablishment.Nevertheless, the Christian side did wage a war and has attempted to take the matter of teaching their view to public school students through the idea of ââ¬Å"Intelligent Designâ⬠to the Supreme Court. Even though the Christian side lost, their opposition is still strong and only time can determine the ultimate fate of this issue. While the influence of Christianity on most aspects of life in America has resulted in its weakening ability to maintain its power, its influence on politics stands out.Politics is the only field where Christian views regardless of the class of voters has mostly prevailed. In fact, a presidential candidate is not likely to be elected to the White House unless he reveals Christian upbringing or at least Christian views. Not only is politics inconsistent with the rest of the social structures, it is the only field that stands in utter contradiction since it had officially separated itself from all religious influences through the concept of ââ¬Å"separation of Church and Stateâ⬠first presented through the Constitution of America. While in other structures of society, Christianity stands in opposition to the trends and aspirations of the culture which for the most part picks liberal views over the conservative ones, in the case of politics, it is only the candidate running for his /her seat whose views are considered. The voters seem to hold the view that a candidate from a Christian background is moral and thus necessary to maintain a stable structure of the American way of life. This is not to say that the voters choose an anti-abortion or anti-gay candidate as their elected official. But the voters pick a candidate who describes his choices as being motivated by Christian views even though his interpretations of Christian morality may completely oppose Christian teachings. Thus in light of all these events and opinions, Christianity still holds its power in the field of politics although the other institutions have mostly rejected and ousted it. Christianity has played a crucial role in relationships, be it marital, single or family relations. Christianity teaches its followers to live with morality, and has set out a series of rules and regulations. These rules include abstinence and the legal binding of two individuals through marriage. Christianity strictly forbids sex before marriage. Whether practicing Christians follow this trend is in question due to a lack of reliable statistical data. However, many Christians choose to interpret these rules to fit their own needs and desired views. Such is the case where Christian children are taught to ââ¬Å"respect their eldersâ⬠and parents are encouraged to ââ¬Å"discipline their childrenâ⬠[5].Whether ââ¬Å"disciplineâ⬠is meant as a corporal form of punishment or limiting the childââ¬â¢s recreational activities is left to the userââ¬â¢s interpretation. However, the teachings of the Bible/Christianity have often been used as justification or an excuse to abuse children This form (corporal punishment) of abuse is detrimental to a childââ¬â¢s physical and mental health and thus Christianity is often labeled the culprit and seen in bad light due to the fact that many infer that Christianity condones the abuse of children. From 1970 to 2000 the majority of U. S. tates voted to ban corporal punishment on a child the only exception being Ohio [6]. Christianity had influenced the modern world ever since its conception. Since the west has influenced the rest of the world dramatically, it can be said that Christianity itself has influenced the entire world. However, despite being a major religion of the world, the influence of Christianity has been fading in the past few centuries. For a majority of its existence it was the primary dictator of various ideologies. Drastic turn- around from this practice as witnessed in the contemporary orld will no doubt create a fundamentally different society. Whether for good or for worse, the effects of our presently upheld ideologies will only be known in its time.References1] http://worldblog.msnbc. msn. com/archive/2007/10/26/433457. aspx2] http://news. bbc. co. uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/1874471. stm 3] http://www.msnbc. msn. com/id/10545387/ How to cite Christian Influences on the Modern World, Papers

Can There Be Creativity Without Emotion free essay sample
Can there be creativity without emotion? Creativity is the ability to create new thoughts and ideas. It is a foundation to innovation, and it is all around us. Everything made by humans was once thought of, and then created. However, the greatest presence of creativity can be found in arts. As we all know, people express their emotions through art. They want to convey their thoughts and how they feel through their pieces whether it is in form of music, poetry, film, painting or even an advertisement. But can a person create a piece of art, without feeling any emotion? One teacher once told me that people start to write poems when their emotions are overflowing, and that this way of expressing themselves helps the artists to cope with everything. Poems usually talk about personal life of the writer. About their troubles, their happiness, their anger. It is filled with emotion from the very beginning till the very end. We will write a custom essay sample on Can There Be Creativity Without Emotion? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I am also convinced a good poem has to have emotion in it, as I believe that is what poems are for. However, someone may be able to write a poem about a chair, and not feel a single emotion about it. They just put some rhymes together, and call it a poem. But is that truly art? The definition of a poem according to dictionary. com is: ââ¬Å"A composition in verse, especially one that is characterized by a highly developed artistic form and by the use of heightened language and rhythm to express an intensely imaginative interpretation of the subject. â⬠I would like to point out the word ââ¬Å"expressâ⬠. People use poems to express, and something without emotion cannot be expressed, at least in my opinion. Every time I have a rough day, I put my earphones in, and play music. As it helps me escape from reality, it calms me down. Music makes everyone feel some kind of emotion, even distaste, if we donââ¬â¢t like that song or genre. Music, as well as poems, has been always used to express feelings and to share them with others. We can feel all the emotions through the rhythm, instruments used, and the whole song together. In todayââ¬â¢s world, however, technology has advanced to great extent. Nowadays people donââ¬â¢t even make music with instruments anymore. Everything is done through computer programs, or with the help of it. There is this specific genre of music Iââ¬â¢d like to talk about, called Dubstep. This is a mix of computer-generated sounds, which are put together to make some kind of rhythm, but usually they make no sense. In my opinion a person can make this type of music easily without emotion, just by putting sequences of sounds together. In conclusion I think art can be done without emotion being involved. However, I do not consider this ââ¬Å"goodâ⬠art. Art was here ever since day one, and people have always come to it when times got rough. Even cavemen have used it, thousands of years ago. Other types of art may look beautiful even without emotion, such as a painting or a film, but I believe art done without emotion can be easily replaced. But art done with emotion is unforgettable and unique. Therefore to conclude, creativity can exist without emotion, but it is replaceable and easily forgotten.

But before you read this novel, I knew only that Irwin Shaw American. Look at Wikipedia made me own guess, maybe even intuition: Lo, this is a real Irwin And so it happened: I was right to calculate it. Evening in Byzantium autobiographical novel. Im in Cannes, to save his life - was nearly escaped Craigs mouth It is unlikely that in the atmosphere of a generous sun, bustling waterfront terrace, luxurious receptions, anyone would take seriously the words of a successful producer. even for a long time not to release new films. Only relatives would try But even for them, our hero is closed. People like Craig, longer watch what they say, its when they attract, they guessed inner strength The girl -. Every mans dream beautiful, but not on this bet. With this there is always something to think about But what she needs, and who she really is, and why she knows so much about it?! All of these issues revolve in the air, along with the emerging sense But in this personal life hero finally came stability, reliability, confidence with the one that is just as beautiful, just as smart, just as independent and at the same time, committed to. lyrical atmosphere of history, I tried to convey to show a nice background a platform on which screaming spot stands out rampant film art artists and n sevdoartisty, hustlers, scam artists, buyers and sellers, gossips, prostitutes, pornographers, critics, hangers-on, the characters, the losers of the year in its nakedness. The pursuit of the almighty dollar. . Bordering the joy of the people the film industry with rigor and fickle world of cinema à » Against this background, the contrast stands a story of love pure, touching, vulnerable Leave all the achievements in the past, it was and it was, and try to go to his field through another gate. Heres what Craig has to do. As it is not easy! It is necessary to pay tribute to the character of the hero. You will meet with a clever, shrewd, not without self-irony, the hero, trying to keep the mind cool during hot heart, and sometimes on the contrary Once Upon hearing an unusual, but real love story, Craig conceives himself to write a screenplay . The manuscript not so bad, the one who brought thousands of amendments to other people. But how dare show their work and learn whether he is worthy of at least a two-hour attention ?! How else then wait for the verdict, and the one who used to first decide the fate of many authors ?! This task becomes almost impossible Only the inner strength, the rod the skeleton, I would say helps the hero. Even if he gives his work for someone else. After all, the identity of this magnitude does not stumble right. Or am I not right? Rather, it can, but to climb harder, in front of everybody Fall just do not have to take off, and thats a long flight to be ?! It all depends, again, from a woman and from the allotted time I would like to mention a quote appeal to the author, it seems to me, directly to the reader: By the end of the second month, he realized that to tell the story the old man and young girl thats not all. Not all, because in this story there is no place for him. Not him in the flesh, not the circumstances that forced him to sit every day, at a table in a quiet hotel room, and his beliefs, his character, his hopes, his judgments about the times in which he lived. Without this, all that he had, in the end, neither created, would be incomplete, useless. à » There is no good works without expression in its own convictions of the author. Irwin Shaw confirms my own views on the literature: Without a visible copyright participate, in their own words and deeds is important to reveal what it means for Americans, the second half of the twentieth century, the love of all intrigues, compromises and humiliations to which man pushing money, morals, authority, status, affiliation a particular class, cr asota and lack of beauty, honor and dishonor, illusions and disappointments. à » à « WITHOUT VISIBLE PARTICIPATION COPYRIGHT !! There is no pressure! Everything is free, for love! Irwin Shaw manages it as very few people, and for that I put it in a number of his favorite writers. His position in life is very close to me. An Evening in Byzantium Review Essay Example An Evening in Byzantium Review Paper Essay on An Evening in Byzantium Jess Craig 48 years. Hes a film producer, yet known, but standing at the very edge of the abyss of oblivion. For five years, Craig is the creative is not the search, not the crisis. He arrives in Cannes on the famous film festival, to, in his words, to save his life. Chances of survival are, for Hollywood, in spite of its short memory, still learns and recognizes the former Arbiter young playwrights and directors. Craig was still in the game, but does not allow the festival whirlpool tighten it into a series of secular banquets and parties. In Cannes, he has another goal he had come to reassert itself and, most importantly, he finally has something to say However, not only about his return to the movies day and night thinks Jess Craig.. In the novel, there is another line the women. No, not love, not romantic, but it is women. They are many, and all (everything) Belle (a kind of Olympus sample 1970). But Craigs women (who were also quite a few) a rare beauty. Each of them had a special relationship. But there is no love in the novel. Maximum a fad. In my opinion, this is a plus. Strong romantic line would greatly handled the product. And so everything is in harmony and moderation. Craig holds his saving campaign in an environment beneficial for men and attractive women, he is full of memories of the past and hopes for the future. In this sense, it is not the protagonist, upholding the highest values ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹of cinema as an art. No, hes one of those people who make a movie good money. When you do a movie, you do want it to look? But something still makes it stand out. Jess Craig truly loves what he does. Cinema his life. Cinema and the only love of this man, and all his women, no matter how they were queens, ever laid a secondary role. As a whole we can say about the book? She is interested in. The major role played by the excellent show tongue. Wonderful composition, everything is clear and to the point no empty sentences or phrases. If you listen to the story interesting conversationalist. As for the plot, it is also quite good. And yet .After Rich man, poor man (a favorite of my book) in the Evening in Byzantium I did not have the scale. I feel this book does not leave a clear imprint in my memory and strong impressions in the shower Or, perhaps, I could not see the magnitude of this in the glare of the spotlight Cannes ..

Social Learning Theory Essay Example
Social Learning Theory Essay Example Social Learning Theory Essay Social Learning Theory Essay This research by Bandura shows that there IS a difference between learning and actual performance. Children imitate behaviour under certain circumstances but always seem to learn it. Differences were apparent between Bandura and Walters study in 1963 and Banduras study in 1965 because only rewards were given to the children producing any type of behaviour. This shows inconsistency in research findings making it difficult to be able to draw conclusions. However, the differences between the 2 experiments show that children observing punishment has a larger effect on behaviour than if they see rewards suggesting that production of behaviour depends on how the observed behaviour is responded to by others. It is found that children are more likely to replicate observed behaviour if model was rewarded, whether other adults approved, whether other children imitated the behaviour, and whether the observer can relate to the model. There are also other factors to account for the findings from Banduras experiments especially to do with the family backgrounds the children were from. Hollins and Howells found that children raised by aggressive parents were also likely to be aggressive themselves. This suggests that children have learned the aggression from their family home and repeated it in different social contexts i. e. took aggression out on the Bobo doll. This therefore supports Social Learning Theory. Furthermore, Patterson et al (1989) found that in homes where there was at least one aggressive child, the common factor was a home environment where physical punishment and shouting were often used. This would increase aggression in people as they have learned it from their family and evidently would repeat it in the outside world because thats how theyve been brought up. Similarly, if children in a family were brought up in a caring background where you look after one other then you would find that these children are the least aggressive in society. Social Learning Theory has been largely supported by psychologists which has been shown through Banduras research. However his research was based solely on young childrens perception and learning of behaviour and doesnt account for adults therefore findings cannot be generalised to all of society. Phillips (1986) investigated Social Learning Theory in adults and found that homicide rate in adults was higher following the broadcast of a boxing match suggesting that observing this aggressive behaviour led more people to inflict harm on others. This therefore shows that social learning is present in adults providing empirical support for Social Learning Theory. Another strength is that Social Learning Theory accounts for a lack of consistency in aggressive behaviour. i. e. aggression in front of peers is different to behaviour shown around parents because behaviour is reinforced differently (context-dependent learning). Social Learning Theory also accounts for cultural differences in aggressive behaviour, i. e. individualistic cultures are more aggressive than collectivistic cultures because individuals learn from others how to look after themselves and how to survive. However, Bandura was criticised on the grounds that the television programmes he used in his experiments were not representative of the programmes at the time therefore again lacks ecological validity. It is also highly unethical to manipulate childs behaviour as they probably did not give informed consent even though parents allowed them to participate. Social Learning Theory has also been largely criticised by biological researchers. They argue that the theory completely ignores individuals biological state. they state that the social learning theory rejects the differences of individuals due to genetic, brain, and learning differences (Jeffrey, 1985: p. 238) The effect of the media on aggression has also been widely researched. Aggression ideas shown by the media, influences people to observe, learn and imitate the behaviour. However, evidence for this is inconclusive. Media may simply be a contributing factor, all the other factors like family background and individual differences could account for peoples levels of aggression. In conclusion, Social Learning Theory as an explanation of aggression ignores that aggression can be innate and the amount of arousal within the person at the time can affect behaviour largely. However, the theory is largely supported in psychology as is demonstrated through Banduras work with the Bobo dolls. These experiments demonstrate conclusively that the acquisition and production of aggression is socially mediated. (Cardwell and Flanagan, 2004: p. 37). References Bandura, A. (1962).
